Black Cohosh

A beautiful plant of wet places and a powerful healing ally of women, with an almost infinite history of use by native American healers for infections and as a normalizer of the reproductive functions. It is indicated whenever pain or pain with cramping are present, as with menstrual cramps, and, again with care and guidance, in preparation for birth.

As a Spiritualized Essence, Black Cohosh’s mood balancing properties are more pronounced, and it acts as a calmative but is also uplifting and antidepressant. Its classic use by the Eclectics for nervous afflictions is well-expressed at this level of Spagyric, and it is a good ally to help with physical and emotional pain, anxiety, and depression, especially when it is hormonally-related.

At this level, it seems to be less of a treatment for infection or fever, working instead through the emotional and energetic level of being to affect balance from a higher aspect.
