Alfalfa is Arabic for “father of herbs” and has been held in high esteem as healthy for humans and animals for thousands of years. It contains large amounts of vitamins and minerals in assimilable and balanced form, especially calcium, vitamin C and beta-carotene, as well as eight essential amino acids.
Alfalfa is usually the basis for manufacturing chlorophyll supplements, and the chemical and mineral balance in its chlorophyll is nearly identical to human hemoglobin. Because of this, it was used in ancient surgical procedures in place of blood transfusions.
It is considered an excellent digestive tonic, and is used to aid in the proper metabolism of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates into energy instead of excess fat. It may also decrease cholesterol levels and shrink arterial plaque.
It has a high enzyme content, and is used to neutralize acids and toxins in the body. Additionally, Alfalfa contains large amounts of natural fluoride (not the toxic by-product of manufacturing put into water and toothpaste), and also because of its high calcium content, is excellent for bones and teeth.
Alfalfa is helpful in a broad number of complaints, and will aid in combination with other therapies for nearly any problem.
