This shelf-shaped fungus is one that was found in the kit of the “ice man”, the stone age frozen mummy found in the Alps. It is thought that he carried it as a first-aid item, as it is a styptic for wounds, and also active against intestinal parasites.
Recent research has shown Birch Polypore to be an excellent anti-inflammatory, especially protecting the skin from inflammatory damage. Like so many other fungi, this mushroom is also used as an anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-tumor treatment, as well as being very supportive to the immune system overall.
We have found our Spagyric of Birch Polypore to be an effective energy tonic as well, uplifting to mood and vitality but not overly stimulating.
