Used for stomach disorders, especially those acid in nature, as it reduces acid secretions and may even lessen the damage from chronic over-acidic conditions, such as gastric ulcers, acid reflux, etc.
Mugwort is also becoming popular as an antioxidant to regulate fat metabolism, especially in the liver. Too much fat in the blood causes blood to be sluggish, thick, and have fat cell pile-ups and strain on the capillaries, resulting in dyspeptic headache, inflamed areas and congestion of the digestive system. Mugwort seems to help these fats move along and out more smoothly.
It can also help with frontal or allergy-related headaches. Mugwort is a strong emmenagogue, and should be avoided in pregnancy.
