This lovely plant has an ancient history of use, sacred and medicinal, by all the peoples in its habitat. From Japan through India and North Africa, Lotuses have been revered as symbols of all that is pure and beautiful, rising from the muck of existence.
Sacred to Quan Yin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, Lotus brings a peaceful detachment and calm inner strength. Along with Blue Lily, Lotus was the sacred entheogenic sacrament of ancient Egypt, and brings to the mixture a deepening clarity but opened dreamy perception of sacred energies and influences.
It is quite euphoric on its own, even though paradoxically calming, and gives a sense of subdued intensity to whatever the attention is focused on.
